Since RIM first began dabbling with the now ubiquitous touchscreen, BlackBerry users have been clamoring for a smartphone with a candy bar form factor that positions a landscape touchscreen above RIM’s famous BlackBerry keyboard. If Motorola and Samsung can both do it, why can’t RIM? Thanks to an exclusive BGR report, we learned last month that RIM is indeed working on a touch-and-type Bold smartphone. Now, for the first time, images of the smartphone codenamed Dakota (GSM) and Montana (CDMA) have surfaced. The images reveal that the size of the handset is closer to the original Bold 9000 than newer, more compact Bold models, but the added size will hardly be a deterrent to the countless BlackBerry fans who have been waiting years for this device. The rest of this sexy smartphone’s specs can be found in our earlier report. Hit the jump for more images.
