You can love him or hate him, but Kanye West, at the very least, knows how to keep things interesting. Over the weekend, West completely backtracked and released a single called “Famous” from his Life of Pablo album on Apple Music, Google Play and Spotify.

Previously, West boldly declared that his latest album would “never be on Apple” and that it would always remain a Tidal exclusive.
To be fair, the entire album is still only available on Tidal, but if West couldn’t resist the urge to put up a single on Apple Music and Spotify, something tells me that the lure of more money will eventually see West backtrack even more.
All that said, is West a hypocrite? Is he doing a complete 180 solely in the chase for more money? That’s up for debate, but it’s worth noting that West just about a week ago conveniently called his latest album a “living breathing changing creative expression.”

I suppose that gives West all the wiggle room to do whatever he wants and not get called out for it. Then again, as anyone who has followed West’s career can attest, he tends to do whatever he wants anyways, public opinion be damned.
At the same time, it’s also possible that West will only release this lone single, all in an effort to lure users over to Tidal where they can listen to the entire album.
You can check out the song, which features Rihanna, via Spotify below. Note that this is the song which features West’s somewhat controversial statement about Taylor Swift.
