On Thursday, 20th Century Fox shared the latest full trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, one of three blockbuster comic book movies scheduled to launch between now and the end of May.
Although the name brands of Batman, Superman, Iron Man and Captain America might be bigger than the X-Men at this point, it’s clear the Fox isn’t going into this incredibly crowded movie season without a marketing budget to rival any studio.

The basic premise of the movie has been well-established since the first teaser dropped, but here’s the official synopsis of X-Men: Apocalypse from Fox:
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
Directed by Bryan Singer, the same man who brought X-Men to life in 2000, Apocalypse is expected to change the X-Men universe for good. If you’ve been keeping up with the series, this is going to be a vital piece of the story.
X-Men: Apocalypse releases in theaters on May 27th.
