The Northeast has had an unfathomably mild winter so far, but all that ends this weekend when more than a foot of snow is scheduled to sweep across the region from Washington DC up to Philadelphia, New York and beyond. It’s difficult to complain when the temperature was in the high 50s as recently as a week ago, but that won’t make the 12+ inches of snow heading toward the region any less painful to deal with once this upcoming blizzard slams us this weekend.

Are you prepared for the storm? Do you have everything you need in case you get snowed in? And what happens if you lose power? This post will serve as your survival guide, so you should probably go ahead and bookmark it right now.

Winter started late this year but experts are still predicting that it’s going to be long and harsh now that it’s here. In an effort to help people prepare themselves for the inevitable blizzards, Pennsylvania-based JK Mechanical commissioned a terrific infographic a while back that will help ensure you’re fully prepared before a storm hits.

So instead of waiting until snow is falling at an inch per hour and trekking out to the madhouse you’ll inevitably find at your local super market, keep this graphic on hand and prepare a few days in advance.
