Originally announced at Google I/O 2015 last week, a new set of security and privacy tools began rolling out for Google account owners on Monday. In order to give users more control over the information they share, Google launched a new hub called My Account which gives anyone who has ever used Google the ability to review and manage their security settings.

Within My Account, you’ll be able to manage the information that Google’s services can access, control ads based on your personal interests and decide which apps and sites can connect to your account. You can also take a Privacy Checkup and Security Checkup to make sure your account is in line with your expectations.
Users concerned about keeping their private information away from prying eyes will be thrilled with the new tool, but what if there’s something on the My Account page that you don’t understand?
Along with the new account page, Google also debuted a new page at privacy.google.com that should answer any questions you have regarding the way that Google collects information and how the search giant keeps you safe. “When you use our services — for example, do a search on Google, get directions on Google Maps, or watch a video on YouTube — we collect information based on the things you do, so we can make our services work better for you,” Google explains.
Although the new app permission settings in Android M captured our attention during the I/O keynote, it’s nice to see that Google is paying attention to desktop users as well.
