Bad news, HTC One M9 fans, the phone might not be available in stores as fast as you might have hoped. The hot 2015 HTC flagship handset should have been launched on Monday in Taiwan, both in 32GB and 64GB flavors, but the company had to push back the release due to unspecified software issues affecting the handset, Focus Taiwan reports.
FROM EARLIER: The HTC One M9 finally has a release date – but not in the U.S.
HTC has apparently confirmed to the Central News Agency in Taiwan that the HTC One M9 will be available to buyers “as soon as possible,” without revealing a new launch dates for its home market.
Buyers who have already preordered the handset have apparently received text messages from HTC stores telling them that shipments of the 32GB HTC One M9 version will be postponed to March 20th. The 64GB model will be shipped only at the end of the month, the same messages said.
The phone is apparently getting “the latest version of software,” though it’s not known what that means. The publication says that one of the users engaged in a conversation on a local social networking site about HTC contacting buyers warning them about shipping delays revealed the phone’s issues could lead to boot failures. However, that’s a detail yet to be confirmed by HTC.
The phone is yet to start selling in other markets, and it’s not clear whether this software delay will have any impact on HTC’s other planned launches.
Comparatively, Samsung has scheduled a global Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge roll out for April 10th, when its new premium handsets should be launched in 20 countries.
