Free at last, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are free at last of carrier restrictions. Just as 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman reported on Monday, Apple is now selling fully unlocked, SIM-free iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models on its website and in retail stores. Although before you could buy an unlocked iPhone 6 from T-Mobile, those devices did come with T-Mobile SIM cards. With the option to get a SIM-free iPhone 6 from Apple’s website, you can just insert your own SIM card and hook it up to the carrier of your choice.
FROM EARLIER: Apple will start selling fully unlocked SIM-free iPhone 6 models in the U.S. on Tuesday
As far as prices go, you can pick up a 16GB SIM-free iPhone 6 model for $649, a 64GB model for $749 and a 128GB model for $849. For the iPhone 6 Plus, you can get a 16GB SIM-free model for $749, a 64GB model for $849 and a 128GB model for $949. For what it’s worth, these are the same prices for what it costs to buy an unlocked iPhone 6 or 6 Plus from T-Mobile.
Of course, many international readers have pointed out to us that they’ve been able to get unlocked SIM-free iPhone 6 and 6 Plus for quite some time now. Here in the United States, however, we haven’t had that particular freedom until just now.
