Your Windows Mobile multimedia experience just got a little bit richer. Microsoft has just announced that the much hailed Silverlight 1.0 rich internet development platform will be available for developers beginning Q2 of this year. This should give Windows Mobile developers access to the Silverlight platform around the same time that Nokia has pledged to make it available for S60 devices. Browser plugin competition anyone? Unfortunately, this initial release will only support Silverlight 1.0, though Silverlight 2.0 has already been released for desktop browsers. We’ll take what we can get, however, and hope that this opens a new world of rich media content to the stodgy Windows Mobile environment.
