Anyone hoping Microsoft would pick an outsider to be its next CEO may be in for a big disappointment. Via CNET, an unnamed source tells Chinese blog WPDang that Microsoft has already decided to name current chief operating officer Kevin Turner to lead the company for two to three years before handing the reins over to former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. This rumor is obviously very sketchy and CNET notes that “at this point, the company needs a CEO who can provide it with a long-term vision and direction.” If this does happen, then it may be the case that Turner will show Elop the ropes of how to run a company as massive and complex as Microsoft for a few years while the two collaborate on a shared vision.
