While it’s fashionable to mock Samsung for building its smartphones with cheap-feeling plastic, even its detractors admit that the company knows how to build terrific displays. The image quality experts at DisplayMate have just run a series of tests on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 display and have found that it’s “better than the Note II in every measurement category, and also comparable or better than the display on the Galaxy S4,” which the firm had previously called one of the two best smartphone displays in the world.
Overall, DisplayMate found that the Galaxy Note 3’s display was brighter and had sharper contrast than both the Note II and the Galaxy S4 while consuming an impressive 26% less power than the earlier Samsung flagship devices. In our own review of the Note 3, BGR similarly praised the device’s display as “positively gorgeous” and said that the Note 3 was the best smartphone that Samsung has ever built.
