Samsung is supposed to launch a variety of Galaxy-branded devices later this year, including a rumored Galaxy S6 edge Plus and the new Galaxy Note 5 phablet. But the most absurd Galaxy S rumor we’ve seen yet seems to suggest that Samsung is truly scared of the iPhone 6s, although we personally have a very hard time believing this rumor is accurate.

Tech site Digitimes, quoting South Korean news source Newsis, says that Samsung is hurrying Galaxy S7 R&D so that it can launch the handset a lot earlier than anticipated.
The company would have the Galaxy S7 in stores a few months earlier than buyers expect, allowing Samsung to better compete against the iPhone 6s. The Galaxy S7 would launch in the second half of the year, towards the end of 2015, the report says.
Assuming there’s any truth behind it, this scenario would mark Samsung’s first year in which it launches two distinct Galaxy S models at once and would be rightly interpreted as a complete panic move.
Interestingly, no details are given about this Galaxy S7 at this time, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
