As previously revealed, Apple on Thursday rolled out the public OS X Yosemite beta version, which is available to up to 1 million Mac owners interested in running the company’s latest operating system as soon as possible.

In case you haven’t received an email telling you that your beta download is waiting for you, you can go ahead to Apple’s website here (the Yosemite beta page) and log in. Once that’s done, a page with instructions should be available, alongside a download link and a redeem code.

The download link takes the user straight to Apple’s Mac App Store where the redeem code will be filled in automatically, at which point the download will start.

The Yosemite install is a 5.07GB download, which means it’ll take a while to complete so make sure you have enough storage space and enough battery left on your Mac. Once the download is finished, users will be able to install it on their machines.

Apple advises users to back up data on their Macs before performing the install, and if possible, install it on a compatible secondary Mac. Furthermore, users should make sure they have Mavericks installed on the chosen Mac before updating to Yosemite

The company also provides additional information on re-installing OS X Mavericks once the Yosemite testing is complete, and has a guide about Yosemite up on its website, which is linked in the source section below.
