Apple is expected to unveil both the iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3 in March and a new report claims they’re going to launch with top-notch hardware. A tiny blurb in a lengthy Bloomberg Businessweek report on Apple’s chip design team gives us some new information about the new products Apple is going to roll out this spring.

“In March, Apple intends to announce an updated iPad and smaller-screen iPhone featuring the latest A9x and A9 chips, according to a person familiar with the plans, who wasn’t authorized to comment publicly,” Bloomberg wrote in parenthesis in a section of the article that explains the likely reasoning behind Apple’s sudden decision to allow the press inside its chip labs.
The decision to let Johny Srouji discuss the company’s chips with the press was “no doubt, strategic,” the publication writes, adding that investors have battered Apple’s stock recently, with concerns that most people are already satisfied with their phones and thus aren’t likely to keep upgrading. It’s in connection with this matter that Bloomberg discloses its finding related to the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3.
The report does not mention these devices by name and doesn’t offer any other details about them. Still, considering Bloomberg’s extensive access, this report seems to further confirm that the upcoming iOS gadgets will be every bit as powerful as the existing iPhone 6s and iPad Pro that are also powered by Apple’s A9 and A9X chips.
