Microsoft had an incredible showing at E3 2014, packing its press conference from start to finish with an exciting lineup of games for the Xbox One, but that doesn’t mean the company is going to take any time off now that the show is over. Major Nelson took to the Xbox Wire late last week to share the first details of the July update for the Xbox One, an update which will expand upon the console’s unique Snap functionality and bring one of Facebook’s most popular actions to the Xbox One.
The most notable feature in the July update is the new Snap Mode for Achievements, which will allow you to keep track of Achievements in real-time without ever having to pause your game or navigate to a new menu. You will also be able to ‘Get Help’ on individual Achievements, initiating a web search to assist you in figuring out the best strategy to complete that Achievement.
New Xbox One owners who have opted to jump into the new generation without the Kinect will also be able to bring up the Snap Center without speaking to their televisions. Once the update hits, you’ll be able to double-tap a button to select from any apps which can be snapped to the side of the screen.
Other new features include English and German voice models for Xbox One owners in New Zealand, Ireland and Australia, support for digital bundles and disc compilations and the ability to ‘Like’ Game DVR clips and feed items on SmartGlass. It’s another good month for Xbox fans, but especially for the Achievement hunters out there.
