For the first time in American history, a woman will adorn our paper currency. The United States Treasury Department announced on Thursday that a woman will adorn the $10 bill starting in 2020 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote. There’s still a question, however, about which woman will adorn the currency.

“With such a wide reach America’s currency makes a statement about who we are and what we stand for as a nation,” said U.S. treasury secretary Jack Lew.

The question now becomes which woman should actually go onto the $10 bill. Candidates include abolitionist Harriet Tubman, women’s rights activist Susan B. Anthony, civil rights icon Rosa Parks and former first lady and philanthropist Eleanor Roosevelt.
