Everyone knows that soda isn’t healthy, but you probably don’t know specifically what a can of Coca-Cola does to your body on a chemical level in the hour after you drink it. Thankfully, The Renegade Pharmacist has put together an infographic detailing the adverse effects of the sugary drink so that we might reconsider our soda consumption habits.

“I actually discovered that a trigger factor for many widespread diseases of the west such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes could be closely linked to the consumption of one particular substance found in many processed foods and drinks – fructose in the form of high fructose corn syrup,” says Niraj Naik.
In the graphic below, Naik explains what happens from moment to moment, as the body absorbs caffeine and sugar while producing additional dopamine, triggering a positive response from your brain — further proof that everything enjoyable is terrible for you.
