Stephen Colbert has been host of The Late Show for less than two weeks but he’s already spent ample time taking shots at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. This isn’t that surprising given that Trump’s presidential campaign was tailor made for comedy but we’re nonetheless happy to see Colbert hasn’t lost his touch after switching over from Comedy Central to a major broadcast network.

Last night, Colbert went after Trump again and in particular mocked his ridiculous recent interview with conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt. When Hewitt asked Trump some detailed questions about foreign policy, Trump responded by saying he didn’t know the answers but that he would know them once he became president in 2017.
“Folks that is a core campaign promise,” Colbert snarked. “‘Trump: Ready on Day 1… to prepare for Day 2.”
Colbert also bashed Trump for claiming that his experience going to New York Military Academy as a teenager gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys who go into the military.”
“He didn’t see any duty but he was on the Ring Hop Committee,” Colbert said, referencing information in Trump’s yearbook. “And he got the Neatness and Order Medal… that’s like the Purple Heart of making your bed.”
