After being the first to release the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update a few days ago in the U.S., Sprint is also the first U.S. carrier to update another Samsung flagship handset to KitKat: the Galaxy Note 3. The mobile operator has officially confirmed it’s rolling out the software update for the handset, and users should be able to download the 504.6MB file over-the-air (OTA) when prompted.
In addition to Android 4.4 features, the Galaxy Note 3 update will also bring other features including music album art on the lock screen, a launcher selection in settings, a camera shortcut on lock screen, an improved user interface and stability and the removal of a prevention pop-up, Android Police reports. Once updated, the Galaxy Note 3 with Sprint’s KitKat version on board should show firmware version N900PVPUCNAB.
In addition to Sprint, other U.S. carriers are also expected to release their respective Galaxy Note 3 KitKat updates. U.S. Cellular was rumored to start the same update rollout on Thursday, but the carrier is yet to release it to its customers.
