Showdown: Everything you need to know about the top streaming music services

Spotify Vs Beats

Amazon quietly took the wraps off of its new streaming music service earlier this week, and the reception thus far has been mixed. Some see Prime Music as a nice value-add for Amazon Prime users who now have yet another unlimited digital service to enjoy for their annual $99 subscription. Others see it as a half-baked product that doesn’t compete at all with established leaders in the market. Wherever you stand on the matter, the launch of Amazon’s new streaming music service marks a terrific time to revisit all of the top options out there and see how they stack up.

The Wall Street Journal on Thursday evening posted a nice quick comparison of nearly all the top streaming music services currently available. Covered in the guide are Pandora, Rdio, Spotify, Beats Music, Google Play Music, iTunes Radio and several others.

Each service’s price is covered along with a short blurb and a note on the size of its music library. Then the article runs through a few other options that aren’t covered as extensively by the media, including Xbox Music, Sony Music Unlimited, Slacker Radio and Milk Music.

If you’re currently trying to decide on a new streaming music service, this is definitely a good place to start.
