It’s that time of year again, when people get ready to get ready for the holidays by rushing out to stores and trying to beat their neighbors to the best deals in town. Retailers have become masters of luring consumers in with crazy “doorbuster” deals that offer unbelievably deep discounts on everything from TVs and tablets to clothing and jewelry. But just because you go to a store on Black Friday doesn’t mean you’re going to get the best possible price.

We have plenty of info on hot Black Friday deals in our Black Friday 2014 hub, but you’ll need more than just a handful of fliers if you want to save as much money as possible while shopping this holiday season.

To get you started on your journey, we’ve found three key apps for your iPhone that will help you save as much money as possible — and in keeping with the theme of saving money, all three of them are free downloads.

Big sales will start around Thanksgiving at retailers across the country, but you can save even more money by taking matters into your own hands.

First, download a free iPhone app called Chameleon, which will help you find the best prices in your area on whatever you’re shopping for. More than that, it will also find any available coupons and even tell you which aisle an item is in while you’re shopping in a particular store.

Chameleon helps you be a smart shopper with aisle finders, coupons, reviews, deals, trends and more.

For example: Open Chameleon next time you’re shopping at Target and we can tell you which aisle the product you’re looking for is in. Now that you’ve found your item, do you need to check its price or know if there are more in the back? Chameleon gives you a real-time price scanner right at your fingertips!

Or make your way to Best Buy and Chameleon will give you reviews, ratings and real-time inventory status for every product in the store.

Next time you’re shopping at the mall or outlet Chameleon will become a guided map that includes amenities such as nearby bathrooms, staircases and – of course – the quickest route to the Apple store.

Chameleon works at over 3,000 locations across the US and more are added every week!

Now that you’ve found the best price, downloaded a coupon, and you’re holding the item you want to buy in your hand, you can still save even more money before you make your purchase. Raise is a web-based gift card marketplace where you can purchase and instantly download gift cards at a discount.
