Your Galaxy S5 is getting so much better with Lollipop – here are the details

Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop Update

Android 5.0 Lollipop should bring UI improvements to any Android phone thanks to Material Design, but it looks like the new software is an absolute godsend to the Galaxy S5 in terms of battery life. GSMArena has taken a comprehensive look at how well different Android phones’ batteries perform after they’ve upgraded to Lollipop and has found that the Galaxy S5 shows improvements across the board.

FROM EARLIER: Apple Watch finally has a worthy Android competitor, and we want one immediately

GSMArena found that Lollipop added 11 hours to the Galaxy S5’s standby time, 6 hours to its talk time, 10 minutes of video playback time, and a comparatively paltry 3 minutes of web browsing time. Lollipop also did wonders for the HTC One (M8)’s battery life, as GSMArena found it added 6 hours of standby time, more than 5 hours of talk time, 3.5 hours of web browsing time and 1 hour of video playback time.

Not all phones that upgraded to Lollipop did so well, however: Both the Nexus 5 and the LG G3 actually experienced reductions in battery life in many categories after upgrading to Lollipop.

To get the full rundown on which phones benefit the most and least from Lollipop, check out GSMArena’s full guide by clicking here.
