As we discussed at length in a recent review, Samsung is in trouble. The company is still pulling in tens of billions of dollars in revenue each quarter, so there are certainly companies that are worse off than Samsung, but a 60% dive in net profit last quarter is all you need to know to understand that something has to change if Samsung is to maintain its leadership position in the smartphone market.

Samsung already began a huge shakeup in its mobile division by firing dozens of executives, but it remains to be seen how the company’s strategy will change in 2015 and beyond. In the meantime, two of the first new Android Samsung is set to launch in 2015 have just been detailed in a big new leak.

Samsung news blog SamMobile has a very good track record when it comes to revealing details surrounding Samsung’s unannounced plans, and on Thursday the blog posted details about two unreleased Samsung smartphones it says will likely debut sometime in the first half of 2015.

According to this leak, the Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 will be mid-range devices that run Android 5.0 Lollipop and likely feature styling along the same lines as other recent Samsung phones.

The more impressive of the two upcoming phones is the Galaxy E7, which will reportedly feature a housing that is just 7.2mm thick along with specs that include a 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED screen, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2,950 mAh battery.

Samsung’s Galaxy E5 will supposedly feature a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel rear camera a 2,300 mAh battery and the same basic specs as the E7, but stuffed into a case that is just 6.9mm thick.

We may learn about these new phones at CES next month, so stay tuned.
