Samsung (005930) continues to push the envelope when it comes to high-end display technology. On the second day of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company revealed its new flexible OLED display for mobile devices. Samsung showcased a flexible display prototype that at first appeared to be an ordinary phone, however it was able to fold out and transform into a tablet. Flexible displays will allow manufacturers to make bendable, rollable and foldable displays for mobile devices. The technology, which is also designed to deliver better colors and contrast in a super thin form factor, will be marketed under the name Youm and is expected to reach consumer devices in the coming years.
