As we’ve all known for quite some time, Samsung (005930) and Apple (AAPL) don’t particularly like one another. And the Korea Times is now reporting that Samsung plans to “terminate its contract with Apple and no longer supply liquid crystal display (LCD) panels to its long time partner.” An unnamed Samsung executive told Korea Times that the company will make up for its lost Apple business by shipping more LCD panels to its own electronics division and to Amazon (AMZN), which will use them for its Kindle line of eReaders and tablets. Apple has been trying to reduce its dependence on Samsung for the past year, and last week the Korea Times revealed that the iPhone 5’s A6 chipset was the first to feature a processor where Samsung provided no design input.
