Motorola announced yesterday that President of Mobile Devices Stu Reed has parted ways with the troubled handset manufacturer. Reed had been promoted from within Motorola just eight months prior to this resignation and according to yesterday’s press release, “Mr. Reed and his team launched a number of key initiatives important to the Mobile Devices business that the Company will continue to drive and expand upon.” CEO Greg Brown had the following to say: “We appreciate Stu’s many contributions to Motorola and wish him the best in the future.” As sincere as we believe those sentiments to be, Brown certainly has his work cut out for him. Since moving to the big office last January, Brown has seen several top execs flee the company. Losses include Motorola’s CFO, CTO, head of HR and most recently Chief Marketing Officer Kenneth Keller Jr. who left the company just one day prior to Reed’s resignation. Motorola had a tumultuous year ending with a terrible fourth quarter, and reported a 38 percent decline in sales from Q4 2006 to Q4 2007. Anyone have a tourniquet?
