The NPD Group, “provider of reliable and comprehensive consumer and retail information for a wide range of industries,” has just published a report that indicates the Android operating system has outsold both RIM and Apple in Q2 of 2010. For the first time since Q4 of 2007, RIM has been ousted as the top selling OS in the States. NPD’s report states that Android held 33% of sales in Q2, with RIM at 28% (formerly 37%) and Apple at 22%. The top-five selling Android handsets in the quarter were the: Motorola DROID, HTC DROID Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Hero, and HTC DROID Eris. For those still skeptical… the invasion has begun.
