Nintendo on Thursday announced the Nintendo 3DS XL. The device, which features a 90% larger viewing area than the original 3DS, will cost $199.99 and include a 4GB SD card. The 3DS XL sports a 4.88-inch top display and 4.18-inch bottom display. Oddly enough, the Japanese and European models will ship without AC adapters in an effort to keep cost down, because the device is compatible with existing 3DS and DSi XL power adapters. It is currently not known if the North American model will follow suit, however. The Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in both red and blue starting August 19th.
