Nike and Apple have long had a strong and close working relationship. Not only did the two companies collaborate on the extremely popular Nike+running initiative, but Apple CEO Tim Cook just so happens to be a Nike board member.

All that said, Nike CEO and President Mark Parker recently hinted during a CNBC interview that we can expect even more from Apple and the sports apparel giant in the future.

“We’re excited about the potential of the Apple and Nike relationship,” Parker explained during a brief interview. “Nike+ Running is actually an app that can show up on your watch, and it’s great experience.”

“We’re continuing to develop apps and experiences, and we’re working with Apple and others as well,” Parker added. “[There will] be more from Apple and Nike. Two great brands with lots of potential and opportunity…”

Nike, of course, used to have its own fitness hardware with the Nike FuelBand before they shut down the program about a year ago. Explaining the decision, Nike said that there were greater opportunities for the company in software than in hardware.
