The entertainment world is moving more toward a subscription-based business model in which we pay monthly fees in exchange for the rights to stream an unlimited amount of content through our phones, computers and TVs. That said, all these subscriptions can add up to a lot of money if you subscribe to a lot of them, which is why we were pleased to see that The Wall Street Journal has created a simple, easy-to-use tool for figuring out what your total monthly subscription budget really is.

So let’s say you’re a TV junkie who subscribes to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and HBO Now — just check those four boxes over at WSJ’s tool and click Submit and you’ll be informed that you’re paying just over $40 per month for your monthly entertainment package. Of if you have more diverse needs than just TV and you subscribe to Netflix, Xbox Live and Spotify, the WSJ’s calculator will let you know you’re paying just under $28 a month.

This is particularly useful because if you’re trying to cut back on your monthly subscriptions you can use this to really figure out which services are essential and which ones can be safely tossed aside. Check out the whole thing yourself by clicking here.
