After one space aficionado created a gorgeous timelapse video a few weeks ago that showed us NASA’s entire New Horizons’ Pluto mission fly by in 16 seconds, the space agency posted an actual video of the historic event on Instagram that is even more impressive.

New Horizons needed just two hours to approach, fly over and surpass Pluto a few weeks ago. For the first time, we reached the most distant planet in our galaxy and obtained a treasure trove of information about it.
NASA’s Instagram video is made from real images that were taken during the journey and they show what it really looks like to fly over Pluto. In addition to Pluto, you can also observe Charon, Pluto’s moon, in the clip at the end of this post.
As for New Horizons, the spaceship continues its travels at incredibly fast speeds with the aim of reaching an object in the Kuiper Belt in less than four years.
