This coming election is likely to be one of the most important elections of this century and a solid showing from young voters will carry more weight than ever before. With Super Tuesday around the corner, MTV, Nseries and My Frame have announced that they will team up to make Super Tuesday history. As MTV deploys ‘Choose or Lose’ Citizen Journalists across the country, for the first time ever they will be streaming live mobile-to-web video coverage from each of the 24 states holding primaries. MTV’s citizen army will provide up to the minute coverage of young voter turnout and reactions using Nokia N95 handsets and My Frame’s Flixwagon software. The Flixwagon application and web service provide free mobile video streaming to 3G-equipped S60 devices. Flixwagon video content can be viewed live on the web in real-time, and is also stored for later viewing. For the Super Tuesday event, real-time video coverage will stream to both MTVNews.com and ChooseorLose.com. In addition, footage from the live feeds will regularly break into MTV’s television broadcasts throughout the day to keep viewers up to date with news from each primary. This unique new element of MTV’s Choose of Lose campaign is being funded by money from a Knight News Challenge grant, awarded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for “innovative ideas that use digital media to inform and inspire communities.” Viacom, Nokia and My Frame deserve some real commendation for putting this together and placing all-too-important Super Tuesday coverage in front of 100 million young Americans. We can’t stress it enough; vote peoples!
