In case you didn’t know, Windows 10 has been a very successful release for Microsoft. The company announced on Tuesday that Windows 10 is now running on over 110 million devices just 10 weeks after its initial launch. Impressively, Microsoft says 102 million of the devices running Windows 10 are consumer devices while 8 million are on enterprise machines. This means Windows 10 has a whole lot more room to grow since it seems enterprise customers are dragging their feet installing the new software.

Windows 10 adoption numbers should get another huge boost this holiday season when Microsoft says it plans to upgrade all of its Xbox One consoles to Windows 10.

The last time Microsoft updated us on Windows 10 numbers was back in August, when it announced that the software had been installed on 75 million machines. It helps, of course, that Windows 10 is a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users, which has obviously made it much more enticing for people who are used to paying for new Windows software.

Even so, this successful launch is a very welcome contrast to the launch of Windows 8 in 2012, which went down as Microsoft’s biggest bomb since the launch of Windows Vista.
