Yeah, we know, iPhone unlocking news is so last week, but hang with us here. You know that service we told you about that offered a software based iPhone unlocking solution? Well, it seems that the dang thing works, and works well! Engadget was able to get their hands on the software and try it out themselves. The result? A fully SIM-unlocked iPhone currently running on America’s T-Mobile network. Yeah, baby! The unlock works perfectly, seems to hold up through the software update process, and everything with the exception of visual voicemail works. This opens a world of hurt for AT&T, as the iPhone is one of the only handsets that doesn’t leave the store activated, allowing users to bypass their “exclusive agreement” quite nicely. Are we happy? Yes. Still no word on how much this might cost or when it will be available to the general public, but is any price too high to allow you to use your own SIM? We think not.
Thanks, to everyone that sent this in!
