“The next generation of Multi‑Touch”: All new iPhones have one flagship feature, and Apple’s new 3D Touch technology is the star of the show this year. New hardware in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus allows the phones to recognize how firm you press on the phone’s screen. With this cool new tech, a long press on a link allows the user to “Peek” at its contents in a pop-up, and then a firm press “Pops” open a full-screen view.

12-megapixel photos: “The world’s most popular camera is more advanced than ever,” according to Apple.

4K videos: The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature 12-megapixel main cameras that can also record video at 4K resolution, making them the first ever Apple products that shoot in ultra HD.

Live Photos: Last but not least where the new cameras are concerned, Apple’s 6s and 6s Plus shoot live photos automatically each time you capture a normal photo. Live Photos are short little animations with sound that show the moment just before, during, and just after a photo is snapped.

New A9 processor: “iPhone 6s is powered by the custom-designed 64-bit A9 chip. It delivers performance once found only in desktop computers. You’ll experience up to 70 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 90 percent faster GPU performance for all your favorite graphics-intensive games and apps.”

Design changes: Apple made sure to highlight the fact that the new iPhone 6s isn’t the same as last year’s iPhone 6. It features new 7000 Series aluminum, a stronger glass screen cover, and a new rose gold color option.

Better Touch ID: The new and improved Touch ID scanner under the 6s and 6s Plus home button is twice as fast as last year’s fingerprint sensor, which was already the fastest available on any smartphone.

Faster LTE: LTE Advanced support means the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus support data speeds of up to two times the speed of standard LTE.

Faster Wi-Fi: Apple’s new iPhones pack 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi‑Fi radios with MIMO.

iOS 9: Apple’s new iOS 9 platform is obviously one of the highlights of the new iPhones. Check out our earlier coverage to see the best new features in iOS 9.
