iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus: Leaked pricing paints grim picture for your wallet

August 30th, 2015 at 11:00 AM
iPhone 6s Plus Prices Release Date

Apple earlier this week confirmed that its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus event will take place on September 9th, just as a report predicted a few weeks ago. Another report recently revealed that Apple will sell five iPhones this fall, including two brand-new devices, although it contained no information on pricing. However, a fresh leak has taken care of that and suggests that the new iPhones will not be more expensive than their predecessors. However, that’s not necessarily good news for buyers looking to purchase the cheapest new iPhone 6s and who also want plenty of storage on the phone.

DON’T MISS: Leaked iPhone 6s photos show two important new features

According to sources who talked to Dutch tech site TechTastic, the phone is set to launch on September 25th in the Netherlands, a week later than its U.S. debut – this appears to be in line with last year’s iPhone 6 launch in the country. Additionally, the new iPhone 6s will support 4G+ speeds in the region, from KPN, T-Mobile, and Vodafone.

Most interestingly, TechTastic says the phone will be available to buyers in the same three colors as the iPhone 6, including space gray, silver, and gold. An earlier report said that a rose gold option will also be available to buyers.

TechTastic further says the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will have the same pricing structure as their predecessors. That, unfortunately, means Apple will still sell a 16GB version of the iPhone 6s. Therefore, buyers who want more storage will either have to buy the 64GB or 128GB models, or invest in more iCloud storage.

The tech site says the 16GB iPhone 6s will cost €699, with the 64GB and 128GB versions priced at €799 and €899, respectively, in the Netherlands. Each of the corresponding iPhone 6s Plus options will be exactly €100 more expensive, or €799, €899 and €999.  These prices (for unlocked devices) precisely match the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus prices in the country.

Assuming these prices are accurate, then it means the iPhone 6s will sell for $649, $749 or $849 while the iPhone 6s Plus will cost $749, $849 or $949.
