We’ve seen plenty of iPhone 6 component leaks so far but this one is a lot more exciting than your average flex cable. Via Nowhereelse.fr, GeekBar has posted some new pictures on its Weibo page that purportedly show the iPhone 6’s A8 processor for the first time.
FROM EARLIER: Leak may reveal crucial details about the iPhone 6’s A8 processor
As you can see in the picture above, it looks like the A8 chip is going to be slightly bigger than the older A5 chip, which isn’t surprising since it will both pack more of a punch and be part of a larger smartphone. It’s too bad that GeekBar couldn’t compare it to a more recent chip such as the iPhone 5s’s A7, but since this is seemingly the first official sighting of the A8, we’re not going to be picky.
Based on earlier reports, we think the A8 will have be a dual-core 20nm 64-bit CPU that will clock in at 2GHz or higher, although some reports have claimed that it might run as high as 2.6GHz. Either way, this will definitely be the fastest iPhone processor ever used and we should hopefully learn much more about it once Apple takes the wraps off the iPhone 6 on September 9th.
