It looks like the iPhone 5S really will have a biometric fingerprint sensor. iOS developer Hamza Sood has spotted a folder within the latest beta for iOS 7 that is titled “BiometricKitUI” that is in all likelihood the user interface for a biometric fingerprint sensor that will launch with Apple’s next-generation iPhone. 9to5Mac notes that the description of the UI points to “a user being able to swipe the sensor on the iPhone’s home button.” We’ve heard rumors about Apple including a fingerprint scanner on its next-generation iPhone for months now and it’s still not clear what specific applications that Apple will have that are designed to take advantage of the new technology. A screenshot showing the new code within Apple’s iOS 7 beta 4 software follows below.
