A report from DigiTimes Thursday morning contains a few interesting tidbits from a talkative HTC executive. Jack Tong, vice president of HTC Asia, purportedly discussed the iPad’s impact on the smartphone market recently, which he notes is not as dramatic as the popular tablet’s impact on PC sales. The HTC exec went on to say that the company will continue to focus on Android-based smartphones in 2011, as well as Windows Phone 7 devices. WP7 has been selling well thus far, Tong noted, though Q1 2011 performance of the company’s Microsoft-powered smartphones will seemingly be a much better indication of the platform’s potential. Finally, Tong said HTC is currently evaluating the tablet PC market but he would not mention any specific products. HTC is rumored to be prepping an Android tablet that will be release some time in early 2011.
