Even though HTC already announced a rather fast Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) flagship handsets, only the Google Play edition versions have received it yet. HTC already confirmed that the regular, unlocked and carrier-branded, HTC One versions should get Lollipop no later than 90 days following the official Android 5.0 release, and it looks like TechTastic has learned more details about the actual rollout.
FROM EARLIER: Here are the next two phones set to receive Android Lollipop updates
According to “multiple sources” who confirmed it during a London-based HTC event, the company and its carrier partners will push the Lollipop update on January 3rd to both its 2014 and 2013 HTC One flagships, or one month earlier than anticipated. The Lollipop update for HTC’s One models should also bring various Sense improvements, as revealed in a recent leak.
On the other hand, other Android handset makers including Motorola and Samsung have already started updating some of their top and best-sold devices to Lollipop, with Motorola managing to beat even Google when it comes to certain Android 5.0 releases.
Meanwhile, Google has released a first update to Lollipop, Android 5.0.1, supposed to bring users various fixes and improvements.
