After a report a few days ago revealed that Google was working on updating its Play Store (desktop and Android app versions) to include its new Material Design, Google on Tuesday teased the new redesign coming to the Play Store Android app.
“Our latest update is rolling out right now! We’re excited to share a sneak peek of what you’ll get in the coming days,” the company said in a post on Twitter, adding a teaser image that highlights some of the new changes.
While the update may not seem like a big deal at first glance, checking various listings for apps, movies, books and albums will immediately bring to the surface various Material Design elements. The new Google Play Store Android app has significantly improved item listings, which now feature a cleaner look with a focus on content (images and videos) and colors.
Some phones may never be updated to Android L, so this is one way every Android device owner can get a small taste of Google’s gorgeous new Material Design.
Online publication Droid-Life has put together a quick video (available below) highlighting the differences between the existing Google Play Store version and the new Google Play Store app with Modern Design elements in place.
A download link for Google Play Store v4.9.13 is available at the source link, in case the update has not been rolled out in your market.
