The Galaxy S5 is will be unveiled in a pre-Mobile World Congress Samsung event that will take place on February 23rd at 6:00 p.m. local time in Barcelona, Spain, Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin said on Twitter, adding the phone will then be launched in late April for a price similar to the Galaxy S4. Furthermore, he said that the specs of the Galaxy S5 are already known, including Samsung’s new TouchWiz – recent reports have detailed specs and features for the new flagship handset, with two sets of images from @evleaks revealing a new user interface for Android smartphones.
While these Galaxy S5 launch details are far from official, the same Russian blogger accurately predicted the Galaxy S4 announcement event last year, about a month before the actual Samsung event took place.
A Samsung exececutive in an interview at CES 2014 said that the Galaxy S5 may be launched after the MWC trade show, in March or April, without providing actual details about Samsung’s announcement. Samsung’s last Galaxy S flagship device unveiled at the event was the Galaxy S2. This year’s Mobile World Congress event takes place from February 24 to February 27.
