Samsung is reportedly getting ready to update several of its Android devices to Android 4.4 KitKat, Phandroid has learned from a source close to the matter, although actual roll out dates aren’t available for any of them. So far, the Polish Galaxy Note 3 version has received its respective KitKat build, with Samsung said to prepare other models to also receive it, while the LTE-A variant of the Galaxy S4 is getting its KitKat update in South Korea.

Other devices listed by the publication include several flagship smartphones and tablets that were launched in 2012 and 2013, as follows: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

Many of these devices have distinct versions for various markets, so it’s likely that Samsung’s KitKat updates will roll out gradually once they start. Traditionally, Samsung hasn’t been quick to update its flagship devices to the latest version of Android. With KitKat though, which is currently found on less than two percent of all Android devices, more smartphones and tablets should be eligible for the update, although it’s not clear whether the South Korean company will bring Android 4.4 to older devices in the future.

So far, Motorola and HTC have already issued KitKat updates for some of their 2013 devices, although in fairness they don’t spam out nearly as many gadgets as Samsung does so pushing out the update should be less of a challenge for them.
