You may not have heard of Faraday Future, but there’s a good chance that the ultra-secretive car company will dominate the tech news cycle next week after unveiling its own take on an electric car, a vehicle some have already taken to calling a “Tesla Killer”. The big reveal is slated to take place during the first day of CES, on Monday, January 4.

Ahead of its highly anticipated unveiling, the company yesterday published a teaser video of its secretive concept car. The video doesn’t yield too much information, but we do get brief glimpses of what we presume are the car’s logo, along with its wheels and futuristic looking headlights. Naturally, the video itself is accompanied by dramatic music.

A somewhat mysterious company, Faraday Future has been working on developing an electric vehicle for some time now. And lest you think they’re some flash in the pan, the company has incredibly deep pockets and seems to be dead serious about bringing a car to market. In fact, the company is reportedly hoping to invest $1 billion to develop a manufacturing facility sometime soon. Recently, the company signaled its intention to share more of its manufacturing plans in the days and weeks ahead. Furthermore, the company has said that it plans to have a production car ready for purchase by 2020.

In light of Faraday Future’s penchant for hiring employees from Tesla, there were initially some rumors that the company might be nothing more than a front for Apple, a company with car aspirations of its own. Such rumors, though, were unfounded. As it turns out, Faraday Future is actually led by a Chinese multi-billionaire named Chaoying Deng.

As a final point, the following promotional video was posted to the company’s YouTube page just a few days ago.
