I love going to the movies. When I was younger, I used to go to the nearest theater at least twice a month, being sure to stay current on the latest blockbusters. As ticket prices have gone up and the barrier to entry for streaming a movie online has decreased dramatically, my habits have changed, and now I’m lucky if I make it to the theater five times in a year.

But I miss it. I miss going to the movies, which is why I was excited to find out about Dealflicks earlier today.

It’s worth noting that Dealflicks has been around for a couple of years, but the service was only brought to my attention after I happened across The Verge’s feature on it earlier today.

Dealflicks is a service that partners with theaters around the country in order to offer discounts to prospective moviegoers. Unless it’s opening night for a huge superhero movie or an anticipated sequel, there are going to be dozens of empty seats, so by giving customers the ability to buy their tickets, a soda and some popcorn for up to 60% off, they can fill some of those seats.

It’s easy to use, there are no convenience fees, and Dealflicks doesn’t charge the theaters any ongoing fees to use their service, so there’s no real reason to dump it. If you want to check it out yourself, head over to Dealflicks.com and see how much it would cost to see Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation at your local theater tonight.
