BlackBerry (BBRY) on Wednesday stated that in Canada, launch-day sales of its BlackBerry Z10 smartphone were 50% better than any previous BlackBerry model. In the United Kingdom, where the BlackBerry Z10 launched last week, first-day sales were three times better than any prior BlackBerry launch. “In Canada, yesterday was the best day ever for the first day of a launch of a new BlackBerry smartphone. In fact, it was more than 50% better than any other launch day in our history in Canada,” BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said in a statement. “In the UK, we have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone.” BlackBerry did not share any specific unit volumes.
