We’ve written about the Nova Launcher Android app before but this in-depth review from Android Central made us want to plug it all over again. For those of you who don’t know, launchers in general are like Facebook Home but 1,000 times less terrible — they take over your phone’s main home screen and make some great improvements to the design while also giving you added customization options. Android diehards have long had high praise for Nova Launcher, which just seems to get better and better with each new release.

The customization options, of course, are what Android fans really love about any addition to Android and Android Central’s review does a nice job of laying them out for us.
“Nova Launcher allows you to make your Launcher look and act the way you want it to look and act, versus you having to settle for something someone else envisioned,” Android Central gushes. “This goes beyond the basics you’ll find with other launchers, and dives deep into some micro-management style settings to allow for control of just about everything.”
The other cool feature with Nova Launcher is its added support for more gestures that can help you open apps, access your settings and access your notifications. And of course, you can customize your gestures so Nova Launcher will know to, say, begin composing an email when you’re in Gmail when you perform a certain swipe or tap.
