AT&T announced yesterday that U-verse TV subscribers in Wisconsin can now enjoy a variety of new interactive features and no additional charge. In an attempt to distance the U-verse service from standard cable offerings, AT&T has begun too focus on a more interactive television experience outside of standard and HD programming. Free additions include the AT&T U-bar which adds customizable weather, stock, sports and traffic info to the viewer’s screen, YELLOWPAGES.COM TV which allows subscribers to search phone listings, and AT&T Yahoo! Games which allows subscribers to play games like Sudoku, Solitare, and Chess right on their TV screen. U-Verse TV customers who also subscribe to AT&T Yahoo!’s internet service can even customize their TV interface right from their home page. This convergence of services is clearly the direction that many of us would like to see television content move in so we can only hope that U-Verse TV’s new features are well-received up north and generate some national buzz.
