It’s no secret that Apple is pulling in more and more customers every quarter, but hard numbers like this remind us that they still have quite a ways to go before mounting a serious challenge to Windows’ dominance. That said, Cupertino continues to post some pretty impressive numbers. According to a report released by research firm Gartner, Apple pulled in 6.6% of the American PC market during the first quarter of 2008. All told, the company shipped 1.01 million computers, which marks a 32.5% growth over last year, when Apple was responsible for 5.2% of the US market. While Apple still has significant room to grow in the enterprise market, there’s no doubt that they will continue to gain territory in the coveted consumer market. Any guesses as to what percentage of the market they might have by this time next year?
