The Apple Watch started shipping on Friday to some of the early buyers who were quick enough on the draw when preorders started, but many customers who have purchased the smartwatch still have to wait quite some time before their Watch finally ships. A new report from Slice Intelligence reveals that only 61% of Apple Watch orders placed in the U.S. will be delivered by the end of May, with as many as 38% still not having been assigned a ship date.

The company estimates that 376,000 of the 1.7 million Apple Watches ordered in the U.S. were delivered to consumers over this past weekend, while 547,000 Watches will be shipped between April 27th and June 11th.
Furthermore, 639,000 buyers who have ordered an additional 647,000 Apple Watches still have no idea when their devices will be delivered.
Apple has yet to officially announce how many Apple Watch units it sold during launch, and it likely never will.
Slice takes its data from shipping notifications sent to its panel of two million of online consumers. “Slice gets its data from e-receipts – not a browser, app or software installed by the end-user – so its measurement reflects comprehensive shopping behavior across multiple devices, over time, from a representative sample of online consumers,” the company explained in a blog post.
