So you preordered the Apple Watch this month and you were told you shouldn’t expect to get it until June. Don’t get too panicked: It looks like some preorders that were slated for June are already being prepared for shipment. Some of 9to5Mac’s readers this week wrote into confirm that their Apple Watch orders have seen their statuses updated to “preparing for shipment” even though their projected arrival dates are still listed as either May or June.

This is only potentially good news for people who preordered the device because we don’t really know how long the “preparing for shipment” phase will take before the devices actually ship.
“Several Apple Watch pre-order customers with delivery dates of April 24-May 8 still see ‘processing’ orders that have yet to be charged suggesting not all preorders with the initial delivery date range will be delivered on launch day,” comments 9to5Mac. “The reports of Apple Watch pre-order customers with May and June ship dates now being charged and seeing orders prepare for shipment adds to the uncertainty of whether or not customers with early delivery dates will see shipments on Friday.”
None of this changes the fact that the Apple Watch launch has been a full-blown fiasco, however.
